basketball coach Ray Meyer lived in Arlington
Heights from 1972 to 2006, when he died at the
age of 92. Meyer coached 42 years at DePaul with
a 724-354 career record. DePaul's NCAA
tournament year was 1976 when they were beat by
Viginia Military 71-66 in overtime during the

Alabama Chief Justice defied a court order to
remove a Ten Commandments monument from the
rotunda of the Alabama Supreme Court building.
Plaintiffs Stephen Glassroth and Melinda Maddox,
seeking the monument's removal, filed a
complaint with the state judicial board of
inquiry arguing that Moore is guilty of judicial
misconduct for failing to carry out a court
order, failing to respect and comply with the
law, willfully failing to comply with an
existing and binding court order directed at
him, failing to uphold the integrity and
independence of the judiciary, failing to
observe high standards of conduct and failing to
avoid impropriety and the appearance of
impropriety in his activities. In the case
involving Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, the
ACLU,
the Americans
United for Separation of Church and
State,
and the Southern
Poverty Law
Center
persuaded the federal courts to rule that a
government official has no right to acknowledge
God by the placing of a Ten Commandments
monument in a courthouse. The monumnet was
removed August 27, 2003. The issue will probably
