Robert William Galvin (manufacturer) expanded
Motorola into international market, became premier manufacturer of cellular phones in the 1980's. George Gattas (educator) Purple Heart Veteran for injuries suffered while fighting for the 65th Infantry Division near Nuremburg in World War II. Gattas was Athletic Director at Prospect High School. He started as a physical education and sociology teacher, assistant football and track coach in 1962. Retired from Prospect High School in 1984. Prospect High School football stadium named George Gattas Memorial Stadium in September 2004. Jason Gedrick (actor) born in Chicago and appeared in numerous films, including Backdraft, a film about two brothers in the Chicago Fire Department. Jami Gertz (actress) attended Maine East High School in Park Ridge, IL. Her big screen debut was also the big screen debut of Tom Cruise in Endless Love (IMDB 1981). Moved up in Hollywood with her appearance in Twister (1996) Sam "Momo" Giancana (organized crime boss) born in Chicago, considered head of Chicago mafia in 1960's, shot and died in Chicago. Ed Gillespie RNC Chairman during 2004 presidential election. Rob Glaser (technology leader) CEO of Real Networks. Financial backer of Air America Radio. Board member of Mother Jones.

 

Steve Goodman, (folk singer) Grammy award winner ... graduated in 1968 from Maine East High School in Park Ridge, Illinois and Lake Forest College in 1970. The Earl of Old Town was Goodman's musical home turf, where audiences would know his "Lincoln Park Pirates" (a song about a notorious towing company) from its first notes. Steve Goodman died of leukemia in 1984 at the age of 36; his ashes are buried under home plate at Wrigley Field.

Ulysses S. Grant (18th U.S. president, Civil War General) At the outbreak of the Civil War, Grant was working at his father's leather store in Galena, Illinois. The Venezualen-born shortstop (#13) played for the White Sox from 1985 to 1997.
