did Arlington High School close?
Arlington High School was the flagship school for
District
214
which served students in Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove,
Elk Grove, Mount Prospect, Prospect Heights, Rolling Meadows
and Wheeling. District
214
had budget concerns with declining enrollment. The district
board members decided to close two schools. Both of the
schools that were closed were in Arlington Heights:
Arlington High School and Forest View High School.

The Arlington High School building still exists and the
building is occupied by Christian
Liberty Academy
-- the second owners of the building in 1984 (purchase
price: $1.51 million). Many items related to Arlington High
School are in storage at Arlington
Heights Historical Museum.

are owned by former students and teachers and dispersed

Arlington High School ever open again?
It is not likely that Arlington High School will ever open
again. There are rumors that District 214 secretly offered
to buy the original Arlington High School back from
Christian Liberty Academy and that Christian Liberty Academy
declined the offer. These rumors have not been confirmed,
but shortly after the offer was alleged to have taken place,
the District
214
school board voted to go ahead with upgrades to its
remaining high schools at a cost of over $100 million.

The Arlington High School mascot was the cardinal and the
school colors were red and white.
